Through the Artist's Eye.

Since his passing, I've gotten a lot of paintings, drawings, sketches, and doodles of Big Bill. (The name given to my dad by most of my friends growing up)

The most interesting thing, to me, is the particular features upon which each artist decides to focus.  Some augment the warm, inviting eyes and others really seem to understand that genuine BM smile.  While others just put their own personal spin on the image which is the beauty of art, anyway.

So, here it is.. A virtual art gallery with the theme of Billy Mays:

This one is very special, I received it through a friend in Ohio.. It was done by Mathew Daniel (@mattchew1975) and now hangs on the wall above my TV:

Finally, done by the very talented Vitale Bros. out of St. Petersburg, FL...  This piece captures my dad's essence in pop art form.  It, too, now hangs on my wall and, with rhinestone eyes, emits a warmth and creates a presence in my whole apartment:

I know there are plenty of people reading this who happen to be artists.. Why not have a go at a Billy Mays piece?  Send it to wheresbillymays@gmail.com and I'll post it here.

And thank you to all the artists who've contributed so far.. It means a lot.

Honored that you included one of my paintings of your Dad. I searched through Flickr looking for casual photos of your father to work from, and noticed the very many shots of him posing smiling with fans. You have a lot to be proud of.
